Taking Pictures
...the hardest thing about taking pictures is choosing between capturing a memorable moment for posterity or being part of it. taking pictures of people in mid laugh, or people crying, or the rare secret doting glance is the most mind-blowing, ego-feeding, pulse-racing, cheeky-grin-evoking thing, but in the process, sometimes you find people laughing at a punchline you should have heard...or when a dulled noise shakes you from your photographic rabbit hole, only to find out later that the ruckus was a shout of congratulations to your best friend proposing to your ex-girlfriend, from whom you haven't really moved on. okay, maybe not that...but there are things that slip...that flutter away when you have been working hard on making the very same things more tangible, much easier to access in the future. it is quite rare that moments last a long time...at least long enough to get your wits about you to grab a camera, aim, and shoot...in the digital age, much harder if the moment is fleeting, and you have to wait for your camera to go through the necessary whirs and whizzes before it says 'yep, you can take a picture now.' i lost a lot of moments that way...
...so what's it going to be, then? what to choose?
